ISSUES
Strong Public Education
All kids deserve the highest standard of education, an education that prepares them for their unique futures. We must empower and respect our educators and fund our public schools equitably. We must ensure that every child in Indiana has access to high quality preschool. For fourteen years, I have worked in partnership with schools, districts, and the Department of Education to strengthen education opportunities for all kids, a commitment I will continue in the Statehouse.
Safe Connected Communities
All families and businesses deserve to feel safe and included in their communities. We can and should come together as communities to solve our challenges together. As the daughter of a law enforcement officer, I have firsthand experience with the sacrifice that our police, fire, EMT, and all public safety officers and their families make every day.
Protecting Our Most Vulnerable
We must protect the most vulnerable members of our community. No one should be targeted for who they are, what they look like, or what they believe. Ensuring that children and adults with disabilities have access to healthcare and support services, protecting our seniors by fully funding state programs, and doing our part to protect such federal programs are just the beginning. We need to provide adequate funding to the Department of Child Services to drive down rates of child abuse and neglect and to increase mental health services for adults and children.
Women’s Rights/Reproductive Freedom
Starting a family is a deeply personal experience., and, throughout it, women should be able to make their own healthcare choices in partnership with their partners, their healthcare providers, and their spiritual advisors. The government has no place in such decisions. I will work to restore reproductive freedoms in Indiana.
Economic Prosperity for All
Representation - You should know your Representative and be able to access them!
The minimum wage in Indiana is $7.25 an hour. It has not increased since 2009, yet the cost of living continues to rise. Large companies are profiting more than ever while their workforce suffers. We CANNOT stand for that in Indiana. We must work together to raise the minimum wage and support our small businesses in this endeavor.
